Macro Theory Main Page

Macro Theory(MT) is a catch-all term for the study of the largest, most complex processes, trends, and dynamics in the world. 

The term “Macro Theory” exists solely in the command structures of large factions and amongst scholars. To some extent, everyone wonders about the “grand scheme of things”, but Macro Theory is the formal discussion. 

MT’s origins are disconnected from the informal existential pondering of the Post-Burnout years. It started as a simultaneous invention by the leaders of various factions. These people, or groups, needed a framework to classify their initiatives. Thus started a dichotomy between discussions that were “tactical” or “strategic”. 

Many command-structures believed they were laying the groundwork for new civilizations, and that their choices would have severe repercussions over time. With this mindset, a talk with an underling about how to motivate workers could morph into a discussion on the long-term risks of nationalism. Both topics are genuine concerns, but they function on vastly different timescales, hence the need for separate approaches. 

Over years of cultural exchange, MT became a more centralized study, with its base in the Strets. Specialists were taught about MT and learned to adapt it to their faction’s needs. With the arrival of Formers and their informational resources, MT exploded in depth and range.
